I asked several women all over Metro Manila, aged 18 to 30 years old, on which gift they would prefer – flowers or stuffed toys. Out of 25 women who answered the survey, 13 chose flowers, 10 chose stuffed toys, and 2 chose both. Here are some of the reasons why they chose their preferred gifts.

My stuffed toys just end up as display, and I end up giving away most of them.   “NEVER STUFFED TOYS. EVER. Flowers forever! Because they’re so naturally beautiful. And because they are the most traditional gift of affection and admiration.”   “If I was younger, I would prefer stuffed toys and that’s probably because I would be more attached to my “kiddie” side. But, now that I’m older and more mature (Hahaha), I’d definitely go for flowers. More romantic and more appropriate for my age.”   “Flowers. They feel more… romantic.”   “Flowers! They’re so pretty! I don’t know why, but I never really liked stuffed toys.”   “FLOWERS definitely… I’m just not a fan of stuffed toys (It just gathers dust. Haha.)”	“Stuffed toys because I like hugging them.”“Stuffed toys, I guess, so I could keep it for a long time. I’m a very sentimental person.”   “I chose stuffed toys! Because they last longer than flowers, and because they usually remind you of something.”   “Stuffed toys! ‘Cause, for me, hugging it is like hugging the person who gave it to you.”

So… based on the answers of these women, which do you think is the preferred gift by women in general – flowers or stuffed toys? I think the answer would be… IT DEPENDS. It depends on the age and the personality of the girl. Most members of the teenage group would probably prefer stuffed toys over flowers, while and for the young to mid-adult age group, the preferable gift would most likely be flowers. Nevertheless, it still depends on the personality of the person. I learned from my survey experience that here are girls who like flowers more than stuffed toys even if they are still young, and there are also women who still like stuffed toys even if they are already adults. Therefore, if you want to give something to a girl, you have to first know her personality so that you’ll know which type of gift she’d appreciate the most. Or better yet… just to be sure… give her both!
