If you ask any man that question, the answer would be a flat-out NO. After all, men would never ever want to be caught dead cuddling a daisy bouquet. Or would they?
The answer is: It all depends on whom you ask. Needless to say, most men won’t admit that they care for a rose or two. After all, flowers are associated with being effeminate, or worse, being gay. But a survey made by a group of American florists reveals men’s secret love affair with flora and that many of them would be willing recipients of a colorful and wonderfully-arranged floral bouquet.
Shocking, isn’t it?
Well, not exactly.
While most men prefer receiving gadgets or sporting goods for special occasions, some just want to stop and smell the flowers. Flower giving is an age-old tradition that found men sniffing a single bud or two. Those handpicked blooms accompany romantic poems that men give to the women of their dreams. That tradition is still being followed today by men who want to woo women with a handsome spray of flowers. If men like to give women flowers, does it follow that they would want some for themselves?
To each his own—that’s what people always say. But regardless of whether a person is a man or a woman, the bottom line is everyone wants to be appreciated. And one way of showing appreciation is by giving a nicely-wrapped present, or in this case, a bouquet of flowers.
Most cynics would say buying flowers is just a waste of time and money for something that will not even last. But flower lovers would disagree. After all, a lot is already said even with just a single flower and the message given will last forever. Sending man some flowers is one great way to show your appreciation and how much you really care.
Women often gush about how romantic it is to receive flowers. Naturally, men wouldn’t react the same way—at least, not verbally. But the romance is there, and men’s hearts also melt with romantic ideas. So if you think that giving men flowers will just make them cringe in disgust, think again. Flowers, being the “poet’s darling” (William Wordsworth, To the Daisy), will always bring out the romantic in any person, may it be a man or a woman.
Don’t hesitate to express your true feelings. Go ahead and buy flowers for the special man in your life.
